Well this is a little late… but I wanted to post some images from the first Bowerbird Bazaar and thank Rebekah and Jane for doing such a fabulous job. I can’t wait for the next one!

There was an amazing turnout of fantastic designers from all over Australia! As well as some beautiful people from SA including Katrina Freene, Chloe Shay and Naomi Murrell.

Here are some images from the day…

Sneak Peek

I just thought I would give you a sneak peak into some new work that is in process at the moment. Some has just been sent off to 20/17 in Sydney for their Christmas Showcase exhibition! This new range is moving on from Arthropod Evolution with other inspiration from medieval armour and art deco. Decopod Earrings

So much excitement is brewing for a brand new design market about to accend on Adelaide… Bowerbird Bazaar will be launching at Queen’s Theatre in Adelaide from Friday 9th – Sunday 11th October. The Bazaar will be a mix of a mini trade fair and creative marketplace.

Great boutique designer wares from jewellery and fashion to furniture and homewares, labels like Pigeonhole, Lola & Bailey, Cloth & Nastalie will all be there, so it’s the perfect place to meet loads of clever creative types and buy direct from the makers themselves.

Bowerbird Bazaar takes flight October 2009 in Adelaide at the Queens Theatre, Playhouse Lane showcasing design driven art and wares by Australian designer/makers.

Open on the 9th October to Trade only from 2pm – 9pm, with launch drinks from 7pm. Public days open on the 10th and 11th October from 10am – 5pm. Music food and wine available all day, this is an even not to be missed.

I was lucky enough to spend almost two weeks in Sydney at the same time as Sydney Design ’09 was on! There was so much to see and do, including Peta Kruger’s Jewellery at Metalab which I suggest you go see! Peta is a fellow resident of the JamFactory in Adelaide creating amazing works inspired by Art Deco, Futurism, 1980’s design and Sci-Fi. Also one to check out is Alice Potter at Gaffa Gallery for the exhibition ‘Alter Ego: The other I’. Alice is a good friend of mine who creates wonderful whimsical pieces.

We also had a chance to do the tourist things and visit the Sydney Opera House, walk across the Harbour Bridge and visit Darling Harbour. It was all very exciting. One of the highlights was visiting The Establishment, in particular The Den. We stayed for hours sipping cocktails, being inspired by the fantastic design and basking in the opulance and all on a Monday night! I love holidays.

New Range

I’m super excited. The new range I have been working on for some time now, is getting VERY close! Which will also coincide with a last minute exhibition I am involved in, which means I can launch it! As I said I am so excited. Here are some sample pieces so you can have a taste of what is to come. I’ll post some new images once I have some more final pieces to photograph! (not long now!)

I’ve been a little apprehensive about this first post in particular but I figure I’ll get over the first hurdle and start with a brief introduction. Well I’m Sarah and a jeweller from Adelaide, South Australia. I have a studio at the JamFactory… obviously no Jam is manufactured here.. its a centre for Craft and Design. Four main studios, Ceramics, Metal, Glass and Furniture a few rentable studios a couple galleries, retail space etc.. A great place to work surrounded by fantastic makers of all kinds! Bellow is a photo of my studio space, I share this studio with a fellow jeweller Chris Bang and a glass artist Jess Fisher. We all went through the 2 year associate program at the JamFactory (if your interested in this more info can be found at http://www.jamfactory.com.au)
